Review // Dear Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence

Thursday, 11 October 2018

Recently, Wishtrend held an event to apply to be a reviewer for Klair's brand new UV essence. I had put my application in but had forgotten to notify them of me doing so and hadn't actually realised for a couple of weeks. I asked about it and queried whether I was too late for the event and while I was, they were ever so kind to still send it out to me to try out! Sunscreen is something I don't use as often as I should, I guess I fall into the mindset of living in Scotland where it is usually very dreary and that there's little sun so I don't really need it. A lot of the makeup bases I have actually have SPF in it already but the days that I go out bare-faced, my skin isn't always protected, but I also don't want my face to look super white from having applied a sunscreen to it.

This is where the Dear Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence SPF 50 PA ++++ comes in. Not quite a sunscreen, but a lightweight essence that not only doesn't leave a white cast, but it also doesn't leave your skin feeling heavy or perhaps even greasy. This is a product suitable for vegans and for those with sensitive skin.

INGREDIENTS
Water (Aqua), Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Butylene Glycol, Dibutyl Adipate, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, 1,2-Hexanediol, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Ethylhexyl Triazone, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Silica, Cetearyl Olivate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Olivate, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Sorbitan Stearate, Panthenol, Beta-Glucan, Disodium EDTA, Citrus Junos Fruit Extract, Adenosine, Sodium Hyaluornate, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Tocopherol, Allantoin, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil

Being part of the Freshly Juiced line from Klairs, it shares the same minimal white and silver/holo packaging. The box for this product is where the holo fits in, however, it sadly got a little bashed in transit. It's intended to help you make your skin looked vitalised and less dull, using vitamins as the key factor to help you do so. I've actually previously reviewed the Vitamin C Serum before but the line also includes a Vitamin E Mask (which I hope to also have a try of soon!). If using in combination with these products, the sunscreen hopes to help you boost the effects of these vitamins while also protecting the skin from UV rays.

The sunscreen comes in a simple little squeezy tube which makes it handy for taking with you on the go and also being hygienic. You're given 80ml of product, which is a fair amount as the majority tend to give you about 50ml. So you've got plenty of product to let yourself get through, so it should last you a while until you need to repurchase.

The sunscreen itself is of a water-based gel formula, meaning that it ends up absorbing into the skin very quickly and not leaving any residue. I find once I've applied it, it actually feels like you have nothing on your skin at all! My skin feels a little softer after application if anything though. It glides and does feel ~airy~ as the name suggests. There is minimal scent involved, I can only get a tiny hint of a gentle scent, but once it's absorbed it's not even noticeable at all. It doesn't leave any white cast at all, leaving a natural finish to your skin.

This has become a product I rely on a lot during the day. Because I work evenings and don't tend to actually apply my make up until the late afternoon, I'm often barefaced the rest of the time. This allows me to protect my skin from UV rays and rounding off my skincare. Even though we feel like we're heading towards a very soon winter here, I'll be continuing using it through the cold months. I'm eventually planning to make a purchase/repurchase of the three products in the Freshly Juiced line sometime in the future so I can see how effective they are while being used together.

So if you're looking for a sunscreen suitable for sensitive skin, isn't going to leave you looking like a ghost and feels like your own skin. It can also be applied over make up if necessary for top ups! This is the one for you! It's retailing on Wishtrend for $23 (£18~) and if you would like to find more out about the Dear Klairs Soft Airy UV Essence, be sure to check out the Q&A on the Wishtrend site.
