One product that I see floating about in instagram skincare routine posts is always the Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Toner, one that's been wildly raved about and used by some for years continuously. A little bit of a cult product if you will within the Asian beauty community. It has also been Wishtrend's top product for the last three years. So, when they offered me a chance to try out and review the newly released unscented version, I jumped at the chance! This updated version of the famed toner takes away the essential oils, making it more suitable for those with sensitive skin or are particularly just sensitive to essential oils being applied to their skin. I've been using this as part of my morning routine lately (as this is when I tend to use my most sensitive suited products) and due to my skin being hypersensitive just now I will be reviewing this on a basis of how my skin reacts during this time too.

The bottle of this comes in the same style as the original however, instead of the darker bottle colour, which may have led to it being difficult to see how much product is remaining unless held up to the light, it's transparent. That combined with the purple label and white text makes for an aesthetically pleasing product. One that blends well with my skincare packaging which is either white, pastel or has some blue/greens.

Despite this being "unscented" don't be fooled into thinking that there will be absolutely 0 scent to it. It simply means all the strong scented fragrances coming from the previous essential oils will not be contributing to it. It has a very light chemical scent, it's one that actually reminds me a little of the dentist. You know the pink water they get you to swill your mouth with after your treatment? It reminds me of that exactly! However, it's fairly light and doesn't linger. As you can see from the bubbles in this toner, this is a very thick one. It's not your typical light watery type toner but one that is slightly similar in thickness to a serum. Despite this being a thicker toner, it doesn't leave any sticky residue on the skin. It absorbs quickly, allowing you to carry on with the rest of your skincare routine in good time.

I personally apply toner with my hands and pat it into my skin gently. I usually do this a maximum of 3 times, depending on how my skin is at the time. For me this prevents wasting product being absorbed into the pad and allows for my skin to be refreshed. So my result is based on this method of application.

In my time using this product so far, I've found it to be one that has made a bit of difference to the texture of my skin. I haven't changed any of the other products in my skincare routine so I feel this helps let me know that this is one of the products benefiting my skin. My skin feels more supple to touch and looks a lot clearer and brighter with use of this product. It also hasn't caused any kind of bad reaction to my skin during it's hypersensitive period and was actually one of the few products I could actually use on my skin at the time. There was no tingling, so stinging, no tightness, just a smooth and easy application. Helping aid my skin get a bit more moisture in it when I couldn't use my more nourishing moisturisers. Using this in the mornings, I feel like this has helped make my make up apply smoother as well. Overall it has had a very positive effect on my skin and I'm looking forward to continuing using it. I can really see why the product has been such a bestseller!

For me personally, essential oils don't seem to have too much of a negative impact on my skin as it can be quite resilient to most ingredients. So I think from this experience, I would definitely like to try and give the original version of this toner a try and see if there is a difference between the two in how they benefit my skin. And I think with how this product has turned out, once I have finished it that will be my next purchase!

This Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Unscented Toner can be purchased here for $21.99 (£15.61~ approx). The original version is also available for this same price.

Have you tried either of these toners from Dear Klairs before? Or have you actually been able to try both? What has been your experience with them?
