FIRST IMPRESSIONS // Leegeehaam Grow | VITA - HYAL B5 - MATCHA

Thursday, 6 September 2018

Leegeehaam has been one of these brands I've seen floating about in the K-beauty community on Instagram and I kept wondering where I should start with trying the brand's products. However, StyleKorean, who regularly hosts a series called Try Me, Review Me, in which people can apply to try out certain products selected by StyleKorean and give a little review on them. I was lucky enough to be picked as one of the twenty people to be picked for the most recent Leegeehaam Try Me Review Me that the site held. So I was more than excited for this parcel to arrive at my door.

We were given a selection of 3 different products from their Grow range. Leegeehaam has a selection of four different collections of products that follow different rules and the initials make up part of the brand's name.

LEEGEEHAAM

LIFE // Cosmetics and skincare based on your lifestyle
GROW // Skincare with naturally derived ingredients
HOPE // Advanced skincare for certain skincare issues
MASTER // High tech skincare

LEEGEEHAAM HYAL B5 TONER

Toner is essential to the skin following cleansing and it's the type of product I end up buying too many of. While they don't have to have a major impact on the skin, using a good toner can make all the difference to your skin compared to a poor one. The Hyal B5 toner contains 5 Hyaluronic Complex (namely Hydroxypropyltrimonium hyaluronate,  hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, sodium acetylated hyaluronate, sodium hyaluronate, ascorbyl propyl hyaluronate) to moisturise dehydrated skin and prevent water loss from the skin itself. Which is great to hear from a toner as many can be very acidic and end up just stripping your skin of moisture instead of adding to it.

Something a little unique about this toner that rather than being a simple pour out or spray toner, it actually features a pump. The texture of the toner itself is not a typical toner one. It has a watery feel while maintaining an amount of viscosity to it. Almost like an incredibly light serum.

INGREDIENTS
Water, Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, Propanediol, 1,2-hexanediol, Niacinamide, Glycereth-26, Panthenol, Dioscorea japonica root extract, Arctium lappa root extract, Phellinus linteus extract, Coceth-7, Betaine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Piper methysticum leaf/root/stem extract, Centella asiatica extract, Panax ginseng berry extract, Vanilla planifolia fruit extract, Hydrogenated lecithin, Ppg-1-peg-9 lauryl glycol ether, Polyquaternium-51, Tromethamine, Glyceryl glucoside, Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, Glycosyl trehalose, Adenosine, Hydrogenated starch hydrolysate, Biosaccharide gum-1, Raffinose, Beta-glucan, Peg-40 hydrogenated castor oil, Acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, Xanthan gum, Sodium hyaluronate, Cellulose gum, Hydroxypropyltrimonium hyaluronate, Lecithin, Michelia alba leaf oil, Myristica fragrans (nutmeg) kernel oil, Daucus carota sativa (carrot) seed oil, Elettaria cardamomum seed oil, Michelia alba flower oil, Tagetes minuta flower oil, Butylene glycol, Hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, Ascorbyl propyl hyaluronate

It absorbs quickly into the skin, making my skin feel almost immediately more moisturised. Also making the skin feel very refreshed. As I've mentioned several times, I don't actually use cotton pads for toner or the like for the most part as I prefer just to spray or apply to my face and pat gently, and I feel the way this toner is presented makes it ideal for my own preferred method.

You only need a couple of pumps to get the right amount to apply to the skin so this big bottle can last a long long time depending on how much regular use you get out of it. I'm going to test this out over the winter time in particular (which is already setting in in Scotland) to see how much this adds to my skin's moisture at a time when my skin is most likely to be dehydrated and begging for something to help it out.

LEEGEEHAAM GROW VITA PROPOLIS AMPOULE

Propolis is an ingredient that hasn't really appeared in my own skincare that I've used thus far. A compound created by bees mixing beeswax with saliva and a variety of other elements. However, I have heard of the many benefits that it does have for the skin, including the acceleration of the growth of cells, soothing skin and reviving skin to look less dull to just name a few. Trying a new key ingredient that aims to help several concerns of my own skin drags me in purely by intrigue.

Dropper bottles tend to be some of my favourite when the bottle itself is clear and the colour of the product inside, making it really shine. The gorgeous honey-like colour really adds a little bit of colour to LGH's minimal skincare line.

INGREDIENTS
Propolis Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides Extract, Panthenol, Rosa Centifolia Flower Water, Niacinamide, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethyl Ascorbyl Ether, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Bark/Twig Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Carbomer, Arginine, Spirodela Polyrrhiza Extract , Hydroxyethylcellulose, Dipotassium, Glycyrrhizate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Adenosine

A very lightweight Ampoule that absorbs quickly into the skin. Making it feel nourished and preparing it for the final few steps of your skincare routine. As I have only been able to use this for about a week, I can't explicitly say whether or not it has made a difference to my skin but I am noticing it is beginning to look a lot fresher and brighter overall. So, hopefully with some more trialing and usage, combining with other products to suit my skin, I will be able to see if this has a full impact on my skin over time. It's a beautiful little product and provided it helps aid my skin's issues, I will definitely make a repurchase of it sometime in the future.

LEEGEEHAAM GROW MATCHA CLAY PACK

Clay packs were the first types of face masks I came across as a teenager and ones I always enjoyed using. Particularly as an acne sufferer, clay masks can be the ideal counterpart to a skincare routine to help you draw out some of the nasties in your skin that may not be helping with your acne. The Leegeehaam Matcha Clay Pack combines my love for clay masks with my love of Matcha. You all will know that green tea has many positive benefits not only for your body internally but also externally. And this mask mixes Matcha with a white clay to help detoxify and purify the skin.

The gorgeous minty green shade combined with the minimalist white and forest type green colour brings the whole thing together simply and beautifully. I've had a couple of uses out of this since I received it and my general first impression of it is that it's a powerful little mask.

Taking it out of the jar with the spatula to prevent messy hands and waste, the product glides onto the skin with ease, with the spatula making it easier to get into the little nooks around your nose. It also dries very quickly, surprisingly quick as well. If you apply it a little too close to the mouth, it can't be difficult to move your mouth and speak properly as I managed to find out the hard way. So 10 minutes is all this mask needs before you wash it away.

INGREDIENTS
Water, Kaolin, Dipropylene glycol, Bentonite, Camellia sinensis leaf extract, Betaine, Silica, Butylene glycol, Montmorillonite, 1,2-hexanediol, Illite, Hydroxyacetophenone, Hydroxyethyl urea, Cellulose, Xanthan gum, Chromium oxide greens, Citric acid, Citrus aurantium bergamia (bergamot) fruit oil, Disodium edta, Ethylhexylglycerin, Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil

This mask makes my skin feel nourished and supple while looking radiant and bright. The redness of acne scars had reduced and any spots above the skin had also decreased in size. I definite win from this one. Sometimes clay masks can be a hit or a miss but this one is a clear hit! I've had a few uses from it and I know it's going to be added to my regular weekly cycle of face masks from now on.

Purchase from StyleKorean for £24/$31.03 (approx)

OVERALL

My first impression on not only these products, but Leegeehaam as a brand has been an incredibly positive one and I don't understand now why it took me so long to get round to actually trying a least a few products from them. I'll definitely be making repurchases of all of these products sometime in the future and will be looking to try a few other products from the Grow and other ranges from LGH.

Have you tried anything from Leegeehaam, if so, which has been your favourite? Or which product mentioned here has piqued your interest the most? Let me know in the comments below~

MASK MONDAY // eyenlip Gold & Snail Hydrogel Eye Patch

Monday, 3 September 2018

Mask Monday isn't just for sheet masks! Today, I'm bringing you a little review of the eyenlip Gold & Snail Hydrogel Eye Patch. Our eyes tend to be something that we either forget about or just don't give that much attention. With the skin being so delicate, we need to take extra gentle care of them to keep the skin hydrated and looking bright. I suffer from dark deepset eyebags, something that I have had to deal with since I was a teenager. So I understand that a product isn't going to magically take that away, however, I know that the appearance of them can be at least temporarily physically improved, so that's where these little gold beauties step in.

This post is in part of a series of posts about eyenlip where I have received a variety of products to try out and in return, review here on my blog for my readers to discover. All opinions are my own however.

A B O U T  E Y E N L I P

Eyenlip was launched in 2017 by the founders of beautynetkorea, a stockist and seller of a large variety of Korean beauty brands. They also have their own eBay page where they sell the same items under the username f2plus1 (which is one of my most used and trusted stores on the site). Over the past year or so the brand coming to be, they have been gradually building their repertoire of skincare and makeup products. With the aim of making their products affordable and easily accessible, targeting a number of different concerns.

C L A I M  A N D  I N S T R U C T I O N S

The combination of the snail mucin and the gold aims to firm and moisturise the skin while also reducing the dullness of the skin around the eyes. The patches also hope to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Once you have cleaned your face and toned it after, take out two patches and apply to the eye area. Depending on the skin around your eyes, it's best to have the larger rounded end go under your tear duct. However, if the skin at the sides of your eyes is more of an issue its easy enough to wear the gel patch the other way. Leave the patches on for 20-40 minutes and after removal, pat the remaining essence into the skin very gently.

The product comes in a simple little tub with a green lid adorned with a ring of flowers.

Opening the lid of the tub, you are greeted with an insert of a white lid. This stops the essence within from leaking out while also standing as a holder for the little tweezers included to make it so much easier to get each individual hydrogel patch out.

The tweezers manage to get a good grip of the patches despite how slippery they are.

The patches themselves, as expected, are a gorgeous shade of gold. With little flecks of glitter to make them just that little prettier.

M Y  E X P E R I E N C E

I aimed to use these patches 1-2 times a week to see if it made a difference to the appearance of the skin under my eyes. After each use, the skin underneath my eyes definitely felt a lot more moisturised and looked a little brighter. Nothing stunningly different, but enough for me to see a change. I think with my regular use I may have seen a bigger difference to how dark my under eyes are. As you get 60 in a pack, it might be worthwhile using them daily for a month to see if an overall difference is more apparent. However, I just used these on days I had been getting that much sleep and needed to look a little more alive.

The patches themselves are so pretty and lightweight, however, I had problems with them sliding down my face even when I was sitting quite stationary. So I could only use them effectively while lying down on my back. Which gave me an excuse to just lay down and chill on my bed and play about on my phone or Switch!

Overall, I think these are a good little product, but I think they need regular use to become properly effective for the skin under the eyes. They are very affordable if bought directly through BeautyNetKorea. However, if you are to purchase elsewhere, expect to pay the full non-sale price. I would be quite interested in trying out the other types of the gel patch to see if they have a better effect on my eyes than these. But the main thing I took from these is that they helped me give the skin under my eyes the attention it so desperately needed and a boost of moisture, making it easier to apply make up on the area.

Be sure to check the rest of my eyenlip posts!

Can Urang Help You Lighten Acne Scars?

Thursday, 30 August 2018

I'm sadly very far from blessed with perfect skin. While my skin condition has changed over the years, the one thing that has remained a consistency with it, is the fact I suffer from hormonal acne and scar quite easily from said acne breakouts. I have a mixture of deep set "pick axe" type scars and I also have some darkened skin level scars as well, these are more noticable on my chin area, where I'm most likely to get a breakout. Because of this, I'm always on the lookout for products that can help reduce these markings.

This product was sent to me by Skinsider for purposes of trial and review.

ULTIMATE-RADIANCE-AND-NATURAL-GLOW

Introducing Urang, formerly Holi Aroma, a Korean beauty brand focusing on giving you natural skincare combining natural ingredients with the founding owner, Jina Lee's knowledge of aromatherapy. Aiming to bring you skincare that is safe for all skin types and for any age that is both effective and good for your skin.

Today, I am going to be talking about one of their serums, namely the Whitening Blue Oil Serum.

P A C K A G I N G

The packaging of both sizes of the product are both so minimal and gorgeous. The 15ml version that I have here simply combines a glass container with a silver dropper. Letting the natural blue colour of the serum play the starring role in the aesthetic of the product. The 30ml version however comes in a rounded frosted glass bottle which is just as beautiful.

After cleansing and toning the skin, apply 1-2 drops of the serum to your skin by gently massaging it in. Alternatively, you can mix a few drops into your moisturiser as you are applying it for a slightly less oily finish. Along with being used as a skincare product, you can also mix a drop or two in with your BB Cream or foundation to give you a radiant glow.

W H E R E  T O  B U Y ?

Urang is shipped out to a selection of different stores all over the world, however, if you are UK based like myself, Skinsider is currently the only retailer here authorised to stock the Urang brand.

I N G R E D I E N T S

Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil, Tocopherol, (-)-alpha-bisabolol, **Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil.

Yep, that's it. Four Ingredients. The ingredients are kept to a minimum and due to the ingredients and the lack of animal testing, this product is also Vegan. The chamomilla flower oil in the serum is what gives it that gorgeous natural blue shade.

The serum itself is very lightweight and doesn't feel overly heavy on the skin when it is applied. Due to it being oil based though, it won't immediately absorb into the skin so you may want to wait  a little after initial application before continuing on with any extra steps.

I find, personally, that I don't really need to use a moisturiser after applying as the oils do the job for me. Meaning my skincare routine can be narrowed down some nights to just cleanse, tone and serum. Which is perfect for me working late nights and needing to sleep early in order to wake up with my daughter. This is particularly the case in the summertime when I don't want to be putting a lot of different products on my skin

T H E  R E S U L T S

Due to this being a smaller size, I felt like giving the product a two week trial would be enough to give myself a good first impression of how my skin reacts and changes with use of this product.

For the first week, my skin was looking fantastic for the first few days and the acne scars I had were looking a lot lighter. However, my skin decided it was time for a hormonal breakout which brought even more acne to potentially scar my skin. I did initially worry that it was the product itself that was causing it but due to it being in the place I always get my hormonal acne, I ruled that out. Despite the breakout though, it's clear to see that a few of the acne scars that were previously there have diminished in colour and weren't as visible.

My skin broke out AGAIN this week, most likely due to stress and a lack of sleep. It could also be contributed to the amount of alcohol I had at the weekend as well, as that's usually another trigger for my skin breaking out. So it wasn't easy to see a full difference in my skin. There are a few of the smaller scars that aren't as visible in comparison to the previous week which shows me the product is still working its magic.

V E R D I C T

+ Visibly Lightened Acne Scars // Despite the acne breakouts, I could still tell that there was a visible change to my skin.
+ Smells absolutely gorgeous // The serum has such a delicate floral scent to it.
+ Multi-Use // Can be used in a small variety of ways depending on your skin needs.
+ Moisturised My Skin // While intending on just whitening the skin, the serum also helped keep my skin moisturised without the need for an extra moisturiser on top of it.
+ Little Bottle Goes A Long Way // Over these two weeks I used the serum once a day in the evening with the occasional day using it in the morning. I still have 2//3-3/4 left of the bottle. Given this, the 15ml would manage to last you about 4-8 weeks if not more depending on how often you actually feel like you need to use it.
- A Little Pricey // This is just a personal view. I can see why it is the price given due to how effective and and highly quality the ingredients contained are, however, for me it's a little out of my normal price range for skincare. However, this wouldn't stop me from purchasing it as a treat every so often and I think next time I would go for the larger bottle of it for longevity purposes.

This little bottle packs a lot in it and if you're like me and suffer from acne breakouts whether they are hormonal or otherwise, I recommend adding this into your skincare routine to try and help you lighten the appearance of them and improve your skins overall texture. This won't work for the likes of ice pick scars (which I also suffer from) but scarring that has discoloured the skin. I'm also now very intrigued and hopeful to eventually get round to trying a few more products from Urang again in the future.

Have you tried Urang's natural skincare before?
